This place is a fantastic find! They have so many unique objects in there. The furniture I have gotten from there has given my apartment so much character. The owners are always kind and they do not follow you around like a lot of other tiny shops do… if you have a question they let you come to them, they are willing to answer.. but they let you do your thing.Prices do range from a lovely $30 dollar side table to a $200 stool… so if you see one tag that is expensive do not get scared off… keep looking around. If you just moved in somewhere, need to do some redecorating, or have someone you need to get a gift for that has unique classy taste… mush is the place to go!
While I no longer live on the East Side I still find reasons to get out this way and make it to this shop. It’s the perfect one stop shop for the holidays and I always find unique gifts for fam & friends. I always get that “wow cool!” experience when I shop here. Oh and the owner rocks! She’s really helpful w out being “salesy”. You can tell she passionate about her merchandise. I haven’t found any place comparable here in the south bay, but even if I did I’d probably still make a point to give my business to MUSH =)
Oh Mush, how I love you. ?You make me look like someone with amazing taste. ?Without fail, the first things guests notice in my home are from MUSH. ?Quality quirky items with a classy spin. ?The vintage items are to die for….and the jewelry…are you kidding me? ?I’m not going to tell her she is giving it away for those prices! ?But my favorite item of all time…the fingerless flannel lined gloves for $24 bucks. ?I’m addicted! ?Seriously MUSH…you upped my KLOUT score. ?Thank you Sterling Silver Pendants!
I love this place! There are so many treasures to be found here.If you are looking for that special gift for yourself or that special person, Mush has it here. Original art, mid century furniture, custom jewelry, hand woven purses from Peru, antiques, hand made leather belts, ….. the list goes on. I love the taste, atmosphere and energy Michelle created in her peaceful shop. I love stopping in to see what has been added.
This place is absolutely adorable! The place is ?merchandised beautifully and I love how she offers both new and vintage items. There’s a lot of art for sale, too. Right now she has these amazing pendant lamps that you just have to see–mosaic with bright colors. They caught my eye when I was driving by and that’s what made me want to go in. I really want one, but there not in my budget. Maybe some day!!! (not everything is expensive, but these lamps are handmade by an artist)
while I found several items that I would’ve bought. ?The sale person was more interested in talking to his buddies than getting money out of my pocket.
This pocket of oxigen on Hollywood Blvd. deserves all my compliments: from the unusual selection of gifts (you can always find the perfect one for any occasions), jewelry, furniture and art for all the budgets, to the warmth of the owners and ambiance.Thank you for being part of our lives and neighborhood.
A few months ago I discovered that “mush” represents the actor/artist David Dayan Fisher, so I e-mailed them to see if I could see his paintings while I was visiting in Los Angeles; I was seriously interested in a couple of his pieces. ?Emmanuel responded to my e-mail immediately, and told me they would be happy to show me his work. Two days before I left Arizona for California I called to confirm that I’d be there. ?Michelle, the shop’s owner answered the phone. ?She was warm and friendly, and talked to me as if we were old friends.Unfortunately, she was going to be out of town the day I was coming in to the shop, but she told me I would be in the most capable hands of Emmanuel. ?My oh my, she wasn’t kidding! When I arrived at the shop he was there with a big beautiful smile and a hug, too! ?How many shops do you walk into that give you that kind of a reception? ?Emmanuel brought out the paintings I was interested in – and a few others. ?I pretty much knew before going in which painting I was going to buy, so the purchase was just a formality.Besides being able to purchase a piece by the wonderfully talented David Fisher, my visit to “mush” was made even more memorable:As a surprise, Emmanuel presented me with a personally autographed photo by the artist! ?I was thrilled to have it! ?And as if that wasn’t enough, while I was completing the transaction, the artist himself walked in to the shop to meet me!This pre-planned surprise was “icing on the cake”! ?This was Customer Service above and beyond the call…So, if you are ever in the Los Angeles area on Hollywood Blvd., do stop in to “mush”! ?They have lovely home decoration items, paintings by several artists – many pieces large and small that you’ll love. And, of course, there’s Emmanuel and Michelle to serve you.
This is a wonderful neighborhood shop for tasteful gifts.I regret not stopping in sooner. ?The window display makes it look like a furniture and home decor boutique that’s too expensive and designery for my budget. But when I finally came in on Saturday, I was glad to discover a nice collection of tasteful, affordable gifts, art cards, and jewelry. ?I would not call the items cheap, but definitely a good value for how nice they are.Usually, I don’t like to walk into small boutiques because the owners will jump up from their seat and follow you around in desperate need to make a sale in tough economic times. ?In contrast, the owner of mush, Michelle, will engage you and make you feel welcome, but not in that way where you feel pressured or uncomfortable or babysat. I hate to overuse the word “tasteful,” but I think what really sets this place apart is the impeccable sense of style and taste that owner Michelle van der Heijden exhibits when choosing her merchandise.
Such a refreshing store when compared to the mass market home places and the average boutique: ?1) ?The stuff is unique, and always changing (the owner, Michelle has great taste) ?2) ?The stuff is affordable (not your typical haughty boutique). ? A great mix of furniture, accessories both new and old.
What a treasure chest !This store is part museum and part your living room.Although the beautiful objects are reasonably priced -they are of top quality. The owner, Michelle, has impeccable taste. As well, she supports local artists : painters & craftsmen.Whenever I have a special someone I need to purchase a gift for -I head straight to MUSH. ?I also got some beautiful lamps there for my own home ! One of which is a gorgeous teal Buddah – that lights up from the inside – and whenever people come over to my house – they are always moved by it’s beauty and presence. Thanks MUSH – for making our neighborhood more classy and thank you for perpetuating beauty – !!!
The moment you walk into MUSH it’s obvious how special it is. Michelle, the owner, is so sweet and helpful. She has created a warm and inviting boutique which features unique ?items for every budget ?from soaps, candles and books to one of a kind jewelry, art and furniture.
Great little place to stop in and buy gifts or fun things for your pad. ?I liked the jewelry at the store too. ?The woman that owns the place is very helpful and has an eye for great things. ?I know she rents to the industry too. ?It has everything from tea to furniture to home accessories to artwork. ? ?The place is a breath of sunshine and a place like that is needed on this part of town. ?I would rather pay money and get something original than mass produced, wouldn’t you? ?Oh and you can park in back.
a casual, cosmopolitan zen.msh has a refreshing warmth about it that is so unlike an LA boutique that it almost seems kinda displaced, like it just migrated from a euro village. ?i’d driven by a million times in the last year & never noticed until a friend brought me in for one of the store’s cocktail parties. ?i was exhausted that night, so i expected to make a beeline to the bar CZ jewelry, do my best not to purchase (i was on a tight budgie) and make a short, sweet visit. ?all missions failed.the store window is so inviting, i wouldn’t mind just moving into the fish bowl’s living room set. ?the place is an eclectic hearth of interesting pieces that the owner michelle (or msh) somehow fits together like it all just came up in the flowerbed that way. ?asian-inspired lamps, italian-inspired furniture, buddhas, incense, bath treats, jewelry, paintings, books, odd & beautiful vintage tchotchkes. ?lots of pieces by local artists.even if just to walk thru for a little decompression pick-me-up over a hollywood commute rhinestone jewelry, it’s absolutely worth going in. or better, i highly recommend a drive-by during the store’s next happy hour. ?oh, and big plus: ?dogs are always welcome
Mush is a fun place to shop at. I’ve bought several amazing rings there at a very good price. The home decor is also great, an eclectic mix of ?objects from different countries. I’ve also bought a lamp and a ladder ?that were the perfect touch for my home. The owner is very sweet which make your experience even more enjoyable.
What an amazing store. I just moved and Michelle the owner was a doll. She was able to help me with artwork, antique furniture, and a great leather couch and chairs that had most people thinking I had hired a decorator. ?She also has unique gifts and a wonderful cheerful disposition. The store is inviting and full of life and is a cross between a gallery, furniture store, and jewelery store. ?She also sells incense and teas, books that are out of print and new books by local authors. ?She has events on occasion and they are great too. ?If you need a gift, furniture, art or you just want to browse in a fun store this is the place.
